The 2016 Rolex Explorer I Ref. 214270 was introduced to understandable fan-fare at the Baselworld as the first real update to the model since 2010. Whilst maintaining the same reference number, Rolex have extended the minute hand and filled it, along with all the hour indicies with a blue Rolex Chromalite lume.

Similar to the previous explorer, Rolex have maintained the 39mm, 904L steel case, housing their 3132 Superlative Chronometer automatic movement. This movement boasts a 48 hours of power reserve, a Parachrom blue hairspring, Paraflex shock absorption and a Superlative Chronometer certification (which basically means a COSC Certification + Rolex certification post COSC testing).
